English first, and why
A business in Orlando sells to people who search in English. The site has to be written in English first: the titles search engines show, the services, the contact page. Translating a French site word for word into English rarely reads well; we write the English version for the local market and treat French as the second language, not the other way round.
If most of your customers are French speakers — a service to newcomers, a community, a French clientele — the French version carries as much weight. Both versions are indexed, each with its own address.
French as a second language
The second language adds $149, which includes the first translated page, then $49 per page. For a five-page Site Business, that is the home, the services, the about page, the contact page and one more, each in both languages, with a switcher on every page and the tags that tell Google which version to show to whom.
You can write the French yourself and let us adapt it, send rough notes, or have a page written from a short interview for $99 per page. We translate into English or into French; the texts stay yours.
Prices in dollars, written before we start
Everything is priced in U.S. dollars, with no conversion to think about. Site Express, one page, is $790 and is produced in one working day once your content is received and approved. Site Business, up to five pages, is $1,490, with a first version online within 24 hours and the finished site in about five to seven working days. Hosting afterwards is optional: $19/mo a month for hosting alone, $69/mo for the care plan.
Services such as web design are generally not subject to Florida sales tax. A domain name is billed at cost and registered in your name.
The practical details that differ from France
A few habits change with the country, and the site should follow:
- A .com domain rather than a .fr: it is what customers here expect and type.
- A U.S. phone number, written the local way, that can be tapped from a phone — most of your visitors will be on one.
- Your Google Business Profile in English, with your service area, your hours in Eastern time and your two languages listed.
- Hosting in the United States, close to your visitors, and a site that loads fast on a phone.
- A privacy page, and terms of sale if you sell online, written for a U.S. audience.
How it goes, in French
The quote form takes two short steps, in French if you prefer. Then a call with Cyrus, in French, to settle the pages and the launch date. You send your texts and photos; we build the site and share a preview; you ask for changes within the rounds written in the quote; the site goes live on your domain, with a handover call. After that you can run it yourself or take a plan.
Cyrus and the team work in French and in English every day, for clients in Florida, elsewhere in the United States and in France.
What we need from you
Four things, and the timeline starts when we have them:
- Your texts, even as rough notes, in French or in English: we adapt them for the web.
- Your logo and your photos; stock photos and paid fonts are billed separately.
- Access to your domain name if you already have one.
- One person who approves the preview.
